Linares Morelia 2007

Soon after the final round of Corus 2007 in Linares and Morelia will take place the new edition of the important chess event named after the two cities. Veselin Topalov will participate together with Anand, Carlsen, Svidler, Morozevich, Aronian, Leko, and Radjabov.
As last year, the tournament will be a double round robin. The first part is going to be in Morelia (Michoacán – México) February 17-25 and the second in Linares (Jaén – España) March 2-10. The opening will be on February 16 at 20:00 local time.
The total prize fund is about 315 000, as 100 000 are for the winner of the competition.

The average ELO of the participants according to the FIDE ratings is 2750. The tournament will be one of the strongest of 2007, together with Mtel Masters 2007 and Corus 2007. Earlier this year a meeting between the representatives of the tournaments took place and agreements were made the three championships to form a Grand Slam of Chess.
